Hi, I'm Matthew
WHERE I COME FROM
My name is Matthew Hardwick, and I’ve proudly called Cobb County home for the past 16 years. My wife, Marissa, and I have raised a large, close-knit family—we are blessed with five children and five grandchildren. My commitment to service began early, with my enlistment in the United States Army, where I served with distinction. After my military service, I earned a degree in Electronic Engineering and was one of only two students in my graduating class to secure employment in the industry before graduation.
A THRIVING CAREER
For nearly four decades, I’ve worked as a Video Design Engineer in the telecommunications industry, specializing in Video on-demand technology. This field has allowed me to stay at the forefront of innovation, where precision, problem-solving, and long-term planning are essential. My journey began even before I graduated college, when I was one of only two students in my class to be hired into the industry prior to receiving my degree in Electronic Engineering. Since then, I’ve committed myself to building technology solutions that serve millions—work that demands both technical expertise and clear communication.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned how to navigate complex systems and deliver results that matter—skills that are directly transferable to public service. My professional experience has taught me how to evaluate budgets, lead teams, and implement solutions that meet real-world needs. I believe that government should operate with the same level of efficiency and accountability as any successful industry, and I’m ready to bring that mindset to the Cobb County District 4 Commission.

I’m running for Cobb County Commissioner in District 4 because I believe it’s time to return power to the people—not politicians. For far too long, our local government has been controlled by a single voice, while the needs and concerns of everyday residents have been ignored. Your hard-earned money doesn’t belong to the government—it belongs to you. I’m committed to protecting your paycheck, ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely, and ensuring every resident is heard and represented fairly.
This race isn’t about politics—it’s about restoring balance, accountability, and trust in our local leadership. When elected, I will work from day one to dismantle the top-down control that has silenced too many in our community. I will fight for transparency, defend your rights, and make sure District 4—and all of Cobb County—has a real voice at the table again. Let’s bring back common-sense leadership that puts you first.
